Here we are, post-holiday balls of stress. We’ve already messed up, had expectations, and because we live in this world with a bunch of humans, nothing has gone perfectly. So, what can we do about it?
Let’s talk about Gratitude. Gratitude is one of the most underutilized forces on the planet. It’s one of the most powerful ways to decrease stress and increase happiness. Gratitude is all about changing our perspective. Rather than focusing on what we’re missing, gratitude is about appreciating what we have.
It’s like this: Ninety percent of the world’s population lives on less than $900 a year. Do you know how much the new iPhone is? I do because I just bought one. It’s around $900. How’s that for perspective? Much of the world is living on less than $3 a day, and we’re here with new iPhones. How blessed are we!
Maybe your family has annoyed you this holiday season. Let’s be real, family can be frustrating. Here’s why gratitude is so powerful. It allows you to flip the situation. Instead of focusing on how mom just chewed your butt out or those irritating comments that every sibling seems hardwired to make, gratitude allows you to stop and think: “You know what, thank goodness they’re here. Yeah they’re annoying me, but they’re here annoying me, and that means I’ve still got the opportunity make things better!”
When we’re not grateful we become victims of our own perspective. Gratitude allows us to take control of our lives by taking control of our attitudes! Gratitude is power! So let’s take control and make 2017 a year filled with gratitude.
